Community invited to ‘Olde Fashion Christmas in Callao’

Activities at December 3 event in Callao will include a live nativity.

Callao Hometown Community Association recently announced this year’s “Olde Fashion Christmas in Callao” will take place December 3.

Starting at 1 p.m., the Callao Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Christmas bazar at the Callao Firehouse, 314 Northumberland Highway, Callao, reported president Lisa Deitz.

Children’s activities with decorating gingerbread houses will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Callao Trading Post’s community room. Santa will welcome children from 2 to 4 p.m. and refreshments will be served, said Deitz.

A tree lighting and living nativity program will commence at 6 p.m., she said. The public is urged to attend and bring family and friends.

This annual program is funded by Callao businesses who are being asked to participate for the benefit of neighbors and their children, said Deitz. There also will be a “Best Decorated Businesses” contest as the association hopes to make Callao come alive with the spirit of the season.
