On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, White Stone United Methodist Church began a shawl ministry. In its first year, 35 shawls were made, of which 29 were distributed.
The shawls are given for many reasons, including accidents, illnesses, medical procedures, caretaker stress, deaths, farewells and welcomings, homebound folks, new babies and support for difficult situations, reported Frances Stoughton.
This ministry is a blessing for both the giver and the recipient, as both are surrounded by the unconditional loving embrace of a caring God, said Stoughton.
Prayer shawls become tangible symbols of that love, especially when the right words can’t be found. They are gifts freely given….
