Creek clean-up due Sunday

HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland Association for Progressive Stewardship (NAPS) will hold its 2017 creek clean-up on Sunday, October 1, along the Little Wicomico River starting at noon.

After lunch, the boats will deploy from Cockrell’s Marine Railway, 309 Railway Road, Heathsville, which will also be the landing to deliver trash to be sorted for recycling.

“We are asking captains to take responsibility for specific arms of the river,” said Dr. Lynton Land, who is organizing the boats and captains.

For boat crews, NAPS board member Shauna McCranie plans to bring a dozen fifth grade Talented and Gifted students. In addition, NAPS is enlisting Beta Club members from Northumberland High School, as well as Boy Scouts.
