Dance Extravaganza returns September 15

The 21st edition of Dance Extravaganza will be held at 7 p.m. September 15 at Lancaster Middle School, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. Lobby doors will open at 6 p.m. and theater doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Sponsored as the only fundraiser for the Kilmarnock Museum, the show promises to be bigger and better then all of the last 20 years together, said president Carroll Lee Ashburn.

There will be performances from three different dance studios, along with Suffolk’s Peanut City Cloggers, the Indian Spirits Dance Team, vocalists from the Old Dominion Barn Dance Show, as well as everyone’s local favorites, Tommy Thompson and Kristen Blackwell.

In keeping with the “Broadway comes to Kilmarnock” theme, the show will begin in France and end in New York with many favorite show tunes, said Ashburn.

The museum also will conduct a silent auction in the lobby, including homemade cakes and restaurant gift certificates. Bidding will start at 6 p.m.

Advance tickets, $15, are on sale at the museum. Tickets will be $20 at the door.
