IRVINGTON—David Allen Headley, a beloved member of the Irvington community, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2023, at the age of 86. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Irvington.

Born in 1937 to Margaret (Lokey) Headley and David Melvin Headley, David grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity and compassion. These qualities would shape his life and career, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

David dedicated over four decades of his life to his profession as an accounting manager with Robert Phillipson & Co. in Richmond, where he served with distinction. His expertise and dedication earned him the trust and respect of his clients, and he continued to serve them until his retirement in 2015.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was a devoted family man. He shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Alice (Hilliard) Headley. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter and cherished memories. David was a loving and supportive father to his children, Ann Louise Savko, James Allen Headley and John Patrick Headley. He took great pride in their accomplishments and provided them with unwavering guidance and encouragement.

David’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Allen Savko, Jacob Headley, Luke Headley and Beau Headley. He adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. They will forever carry his love and wisdom in their hearts.

David is also survived by his brother, Don Headley, and his spouse, Margaret. Their bond was unbreakable, and they shared a lifetime of memories and experiences. He is further survived by his son-in-law, Kenneth Savko (Ann); and his daughters-in-law, Lisa Headley (John) and Jean Headley (James). Their love and support brought immeasurable joy to David’s life.

David’s commitment to his faith was evident in his long-standing role as a deacon at Irvington Baptist Church. For many years, he served his church community with dedication and humility. Family and friends will gather at Irvington Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Friday, November 3, to celebrate David’s life and honor his memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The family requests that any donations made in David’s honor be submitted to Irvington Baptist Church. Contributions will help continue the important work of the church community that meant so much to him.
