COLONIAL BEACH—De’Monn Montae “Peanut” Richards died April 15, 2022.
He was born on November 24, 1976, to Gloria Richards and Roger McDowney at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
De’Monn was educated in Stockton, Calif., Public Schools and Westmoreland County Public Schools, where he was an avid track runner. De’Monn graduated from Washington & Lee High School in Montross in June 1994. He was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church.
De’Monn worked for a variety of employers, Food Lion, White Packing, Dominion Growers, Forward Air, Inc., and Eagle Freight as a forklift operator. He later cared for special needs children at the State Hospital in Texas, where he worked for a number of years until his return to Virginia.
De’Monn was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John and Gladys Richards and paternal grandparents Rev. John and Margaret McDowney; and his mother, Gloria Baker.
He is survived by his sons, Ely’Jah Richards and Cameron Richards; father, Roger McDowney; twin brother, Da’Monn Dante Richards; brother, John McDowney; and sisters, Jenaya Foster, Melissa Bland, Patricia West, Bontina Scott and Renee Carter.
A service of comfort was held June 11 at Little Zion Baptist Church, Colonial Beach.
