ESSEX COUNTY—Dennis Dean Cockrell, 66, of Essex County passed away peacefully early Friday morning, May 28, 2021, in Orlando, Fla.
Dean retired from being an environmental specialist in Bowling Green and auto mechanic. He then enjoyed going to auctions and being a member of Beale Memorial Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Dean was predeceased by his father, William Orvin Cockrell and his mother, Erma Gladys Cockrell.
He is survived by his brother, Orvin Raymond Cockrell of Burgess; nephews, Orvin Raymond Cockrell Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and William Brandon Cockrell of Heathsville.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Beale Memorial Baptist Church, Tappahanock. A private family-only graveside service will be held later.
