Devils’ sandlot season closes with spectacular regional semifinal

Wyatt Bunch hit a sacrifice fly to deep centerfield to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning last Wednesday, June 16, as Rappahannock eliminated Lancaster from postseason play with a 9-7 Region 1A semifinal win in Warsaw.

Essex edged Rappahannock, 4-2, last Friday to claim the regional championship.

En route to the semis, Lancaster whipped Washington & Lee, 19-3, in a quarterfinal game last Monday and Rappahannock blanked Middlesex, 8-0. 

The Red Devils clawed their way back….
