Dorothy L. Fletcher

BEALETON—Dorothy Lewis Fletcher, 97, passed peacefully at the Blue Ridge Christian home in Bealeton on Thursday, July 27, 2017. She was born on November 30, 1919, in Reedville, the daughter of the late Grover and Dorothy Lewis.

Dot received her RN from Johnston-Willis in Richmond and then served as an army nurse during World War II. She also worked as the visiting school nurse for Fauquier County Public Schools for 15 years.

She enjoyed playing tennis and being on the water at her Reedville house. She volunteered for many years at the Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop. She was a member of St. James’ Episcopal Church.

Dot is survived by her three children, Catherine G. Foster and her husband, Steve; Ann F. Sentz and her husband, Tom; and Thad Fletcher, all of Warrenton; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her faithful friend and caregiver, Alma Fisher.

In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years who passed in 1994, Thaddeus N. Fletcher, III; and her three siblings, Evelyn Atwill, Grover Lewis and John Lewis.

A funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 31, at St. James’ Episcopal Church, 73 Culpeper Street, Warrenton, VA 20186. Interment followed at Warrenton Cemetery.
