
IRVINGTON—Mrs. Dorothy “Pam” M. Key, wife and mother, died November 14, 2021, in Irvington.
She was the wife of Dr. Marcus M. Key Jr. and the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Somers) McTeigue, born in 1927 in Mount Vernon, N.Y.
She attended Manhattanville College, N.Y., and after graduating in 1950, worked for IBM. She married Marcus M. Key Jr., M.D., in Larchmont, N.Y., at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in 1952. They lived in Brighton, Mass.; New York, N.Y.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Potomac, Md.; and Houston, Texas, before retiring to Weems.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and helpmate to her husband throughout his career, Mrs. Key served in Brighton as a secretary at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing; in Potomac as a C.C.D. teacher; and in Houston, helping disabled children and as treasurer and shop chairman at the Charity Guild of Catholic Women.
Mrs. Key and her husband moved to Moran Creek in Weems in 1993 and then to Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury (RWC) in 2005. Mrs. Key was on various RWC committees, including the food committee and the library committee. She also served as a volunteer at the Lancaster Community Library, Historyland Community Workshop and Historic Christ Church and Museum.
She was a faithful Catholic and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
She is survived by daughters Marianne (Key) O’Grady and her husband, William, of Ada, Mich.; Dorothy Key (Grieco) and her husband, John (Johann), of Irvington and Dumfries; and Margaret S. Key, Ph.D., of Bloomington, Ind.; a daughter-in-law Maureen (Hussey) Key of Lake Forest, Ill.; a son, Marcus M. Key Jr., Ph.D., and his wife, Maria, of Carlisle, Pa.; and by 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Key was predeceased by sons, James and Robert; and husband, Marcus.
