As part of the children’s activities, on Friday mornings at the Steamboat Era Museum, 156 King Carter Drive Irvington, participants may dress up in costumes of the Steamboat Era.

Other activities include learning about the country store, steamboats and other interesting facts about the era including correct manners, said executive director Barbara Brecher.

Everyone takes part in a craft including making a steamboat, which is tested in a pool of water, coloring a poster or going on a scavenger hunt.

Costumed docents lead the activities from 10:30 am to noon. To register a child call the museum at 438-6888 by Thursdays. The fee is $5 per person. An adult must accompany the children.
