LANCASTER—Earl Rager, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2021, at the age of 87.
He is survived by his wife Carol; children, Mike Rager, Pam Manfredi (husband Michael), Vicky Beasley (husband Jeff) and Missy Rager; his grandchildren, Justin Beam (wife Danielle), Matt Beam (wife Marisa) and Nicolas Manfredi; as well as his great-grandchildren, Jax, Matty and Mila; also sister, Coretta Hewitt of Illinois. He had a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He loved his children and grandchildren and taught them to ski, tube, drive boats, fish and work hard. He showed them that with his hands and a wrench, they could fix anything. His grandchildren never left his presence without telling him, “I love you ‘Poppop,’” and he made sure to always say it back.
He taught all of his children and grandchildren how to be selfless, generous, strong in family values, and that the love for the Lord makes the world a better place. He never doubted the love his wife, children and grandchildren had for him.
He was an active member of Corrottoman Baptist Church as a past deacon, choir member and property chairman. He gave of his time unselfishly to make sure everything was maintained and running properly. He established a church horseshoe league and also really enjoyed playing.
To his family and friends, Earl will be remembered for his deep sense of loyalty and kindness. He was a person of great character who generously demonstrated his capacity to love unconditionally and to give unselfishly. He was bigger than life at family gatherings and always enjoyed his family being around him. He will be greatly missed by all.
There will be a Celebration of Life/Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Corrottoman Baptist Church, Ottoman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Corrottoman Baptist Church in memory of Earl, 48 Ottoman Ferry Road, Lancaster, VA 22503.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
