Earline D. Walker

CALLAOEarline D. Walker of Callao died on March 9, 2022, at VCU Hospital in Richmond as a result of  gastrointestinal complications.

Walker, 82, is survived by her husband, Gerald (Jay) Walker; her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Lia Kerwin of Alexandria; and her daughter and son-in-law, Deidre and Jason Brown of Sacramento, California; and her sister, Karen McCallum of Norwalk, Ohio.  Her beloved grandchildren are Tess and Sophie Kerwin and Hutch and Lucy Brown.

Born in Lorain, Ohio, Earline lived in New York and later moved to the Northern Neck. After arriving in Northumberland County in 2003, she became an active volunteer as a Master Naturalist and advocate for the Virginia Native Plant Society.  She was also a major innovator for the Friends of the Northumberland Public Library. Her environmental activities also included working with the Friends of the Rappahannock Wildlife Refuge.

Earline will be remembered for planning the native plant demonstration garden at the Old Courthouse in Heathville, finding and registering native orchids at Hickory Hollow, plus monitoring bluebird nests in Kilmarnock and native plant maintenance at Menokin. 

She will also be remembered for her sparkling eyes, laughter, and enthusiasm for pinot grigio!
