HAMPTON—On Friday, February 9, 2018, Edna Louise Veney Carter, 84, of Hampton, formerly of Lively, passed away.
Edna was born on October 29, 1933, in Farnham to Ms. Alease Veney and Mr. Earl Gaines. She married John Wesley Carter of Richmond County and out of this union seven children were born. Edna was a loving homemaker and also worked in the seafood industry.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, John W. Carter Sr.; and an infant son, Cordell Carter.
Her memories will continue to live in the hearts and minds of her devoted children, Mozell Carter, Wardell Carter, Edna Johnson, John Carter Jr. (Vanessa), Judy Burgess (Elmore), William Carter (Elaine); 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
There will be a celebration of life service at 1 p.m., Friday, February 16, at Mulberry Baptist Church, 1156 Mulberry Road, Farnham, followed by interment at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1768 Sharps Road, Warsaw.
