
SHARPS—Edward Davis “Ed” Marks, 88, of Sharps passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 13, 1937 in Rome, New York, to the late Frederick Shelley Marks and Evelyn Page Davis Marks. Ed lived a life full of dedication, service and joy.
A proud veteran, Ed served as a helicopter pilot in the United States Navy. He pursued his education with passion, graduating from Yale University and later earning his law degree from Duquesne Law School. His career reflected his sharp intellect and commitment to excellence. He worked as an attorney for ALCOA and was actively engaged in civic life as a resident of Richmond County.
Ed was a man of many interests and talents. He was an avid golfer, an enthusiastic gardener and a devoted cook who especially enjoyed baking bread. He found joy in genealogy and treasured learning about his family’s history. A big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ed never missed a chance to cheer them on. Above all, he cherished time spent with family, friends, beloved pets, and held a deep love for the Northern Neck, which he proudly called home.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca “Becky” Bradford Williamson Marks of Sharps; his children, Edward Davis “Ted” Marks Jr. (Betsie) of SouthPort, North Carolina, and Maria Bradford Marks of Kensington, Maryland; and his sister, Catherine Marks Howell of St. Augustine, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Frederick Shelley Marks Jr.
A funeral service for Ed was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, at North Farnham Episcopal Church with Reverend Sandi Mizirl officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Farnham Episcopal Church.
