Edwardsville Day Celebration slated Sept. 8 at Galilee UMC

The annual Edwardsville Day Celebration will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. September 8 at Galilee United Methodist Church, 747 Hull Neck Road, Edwardsville.

The theme will be “We are striving toward reaching love, peace and compassion through God’s work” as reflected in Romans 8:28, reported Renee Bea.

There will be food, vendors, games, music, amusements and a parade.

Grand marshals will include the Rev. Dr. Theodore Smith, Rappahannock River District superintendent; the Rev. Lucia Lloyd, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church rector; Dr. Mertha Haynie, DPT, Abilities Abound Physical Therapy and Wellness Center owner.

Parade line up will begin at noon and the parade will start at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 17 and younger.

Northumberland Public Library director Cherie N. Carl will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Diane “Dee-Dee” Sutton will be recognized as queen of the event and Frank Sutton Sr., king.
