WHITE STONE—Elaine Marilyn Haussler, 93, of White Stone, formerly of Holbrook, Neb., passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
On June 20, 1931, Elaine was born to Jake and Mathe Fritz, the first of four children. She grew up eight miles southwest of McCook, Neb. She married Frederick Haussler in 1950 and lived on the Haussler family farm, four miles northwest of Holbrook.
Two children were added to the family, Eugene and Suzanne. Eugene passed to be with the Lord in 1972. Suzanne added three grandchildren, Julie (John Arata) of Folsom, Calif., Jeremy (Esther Leising) of Hampton, and Katie (Mark Fuentez) of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and step-granddaughter, Joanna Moody Lewis of White Stone.
She lost Fritz in 2006 but is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
She enjoyed raising fancy iris flowers and exotic chickens. She had a beautiful talent for decorating cakes, many with her secret lemon filling. She enjoyed performing and traveling with the Sweet Adelines for many years.
In 2015, the farm was sold and she enjoyed life at Prairie Pines in Arapahoe, Neb. One last big adventure took her to White Stone, where she lived with her daughter for the remaining last years.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the near future at Arapahoe Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, followed by burial in Holbrook Cemetery.
