KILMARNOCK—Eleanor Marie Croxton Delano, 84, of Kilmarnock was called home on Saturday, December 28. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family.
She was born on October 23, 1940, and lived in the Northern Neck all of her life.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George W. “Billy” Delano; her parents, Beatrice and Willie Croxton; brothers, Winfred and Willie Jr.; and sisters, Vashti, Christean and Alice.
Eleanor and Billy ran Delano’s Grocery and Bill’s Auto Repair for many years before retirement. She was a charter member of Bayshore Baptist Church.
Survivors include her four daughters, Anne Marie Lowe of Sterling, and husband James; Connie Hudnall of Heathsville, and husband David; Cathy Lee of Kilmarnock, and husband Bill; and Wanda Layman of Gloucester, and husband David. Her girls were devoted to her and to her care.
Eleanor had six grandchildren, Jennifer Gordon, Kenny Lee, Joshua Lowe, Justin Hudnall, Ethan Layman and Wyatt Layman. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Makayla, Grayson, Hayden, Christopher, Aiden, Kingston and Serinah. Eleanor is also survived by her sister, Hazel Glass, who lived with her and assisted her girls with her care; and her brother, Mike E. Croxton, both from Kilmarnock.
Visitation was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, at Bayshore Baptist Church, a memorial service followed at 2 p.m. with pastor Ryan Gordon. A private interment was held at Fairfields Baptist Church in Burgess for family.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
