
NEW KENT—Emma Laverne Davis Rose, 91, of New Kent County formerly of Tappahannock, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Rose Sr.; her two children, Lisa L. Rose and John W. Rose, Jr.; two sisters, Elizabeth Pleasants of Highland Springs and Dorothy Cordle of Henrico; and two brothers, Robert “Buster” Davis of Tappahannock and James “Jimmy” Davis of Laneview.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Rose was a lifetime member of Rappahannock Christian Church at Dunnsville and the former owner and operator of Davis Store on Route 17 in Tappahannock for 20 years.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 25, at Poroporone Baptist Church in Shacklefords with pastor Douglas Davis officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at White Stone United Methodist Church Cemetery in White Stone.
The family wishes to thank the At Home Hospice team as well as her personal caregivers, Rebecca Rynders, Liz White and Joyce Sauls for their kindness and compassionate care during Emma’s final journey.
