Encore revives Dance Extravaganza memories

Spotlight Studio of Dance performers take their final bow at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury on Friday, July 19.

IRVINGTON—The curtain has closed “again” for the final time on Dance Extravaganza, the long-running Broadway-style show presented by the Kilmarnock Museum.

After 25 years, the show was shut down by COVID and later by construction at then Lancaster Middle School, said museum president Carroll Lee Ashburn. A decision was subsequently made to close the show permanently.

However, Spotlight Studio of Dance in Midlothian, one of two major contributors to Dance Extravaganza, on Friday, July 19, brought over 40 performers to Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury for a final show to entertain the Dance Extravaganza helpers and RWC residents.
