HEATHSVILLE—Esther Wilkins Haynie, 92, of Heathsville passed away November 7, 2023.
She is survived by her son, Richard F. Haynie (Jessica); sisters-in-law, Virginia Mae Wilkins and June Wilkins; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her faithful four-legged companion, Lillie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman G. Wilkins and Elsie B. Wilkins; husband, Francis L. Haynie; and three brothers, Clem Wilkins, Louis Wilkins and Harold Ray Wilkins.
Esther worked side by side her husband in their business, Haynie’s Boatyard, oystering, crabbing and fishing. She was a loving mother and very self reliant. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 12, at Smithland Baptist Church, Heathsville. Interment followed the service in the church cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
