ATLANTA, GA—On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Evelyn O. Conaway died at Piedmont Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga., at the age of 66.
She was born in Wicomico Church on September 7, 1956, to the late Waldo James Conaway and the late Evelyn Blanche Butler Wiggins Conaway.
Evelyn attended public school and graduated in 1973 from Northumberland High School and moved to Washington, D.C., joining the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After returning to the Northern Neck, she worked at Rappahannock General Hospital, gained her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), worked at the Northern Neck Regional Jail, and regularly served at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, until she temporarily relocated to Atlanta, with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Shan-Toya Conaway of Atlanta; and her son, Ry-Shan Conaway of Heathsville; two grandsons, Jayden Gotel and Jayee Canty of Atlanta; a sister, Sheila Brice of Tampa, Fla.; adopted brother, Paul Trible Jr. of Kilmarnock; adopted daughters, Michelle Grice of Stafford and Courtney Collins-Divinity Stephens of Atlanta; adopted son, Gerald Canty of Atlanta; adopted granddaughter, Chloe McLaughlin of Stafford.
A funeral was held Saturday, June 10, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Wicomico Church.
