
KILMARNOCK—Another summer is winding down, teachers are returning to classrooms and preparations are underway for a new school year, beginning Monday, August 12.


Last year was full of changes with the opening of the newly renovated Lancaster Elementary School. This year, principal Keegan Walters said the 550 students in kindergarten through seventh grade will see changes to the curriculum. “We have expanded our exploratory course offerings to include Digital Literacy with our library class, chorus for sixth and seventh grade, and STEAM for grades 1 through 5,” he said. “We are striving to be the STEAM hub of the Northern Neck and beyond with our Maker Space in the building and opportunities provided to students that promote technology skills and interests.”
