Experienced Lady Devils to raise level of volleyball competition

by Lisa Hinton-Valdrighi

New head coach Keegan Walters has inherited one of the most experienced varsity volleyball teams in the Northern Neck District with his Lady Devils.

Lancaster didn’t graduate a single player last season and returns all but two on its 12-player roster.

Walters, who begins his second year as a social studies teacher at Lancaster Middle School, is a 2016 graduate of Penn State. He played volleyball for four years of high school in western Pennsylvania in what he said “is one of the most competitive conferences in the state.”

Walters coached the LMS volleyball teams last year and takes over the high school program from Dave Zeiler, who is now Lancaster’s athletic director.

“Coming in, the team was pretty well coached,” said Walters. “But one thing we’re working on is paying attention to detail.”
