WHITE STONE—It took first responders less than 30 minutes last Thursday to contain a fire that broke out at BodyFit, 447 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone.
According to White Stone Volunteer Fire Department chief Dan Sanders, a 911 call of smoke showing in the gym came in at 7 p.m. November 15. The White Stone and Kilmarnock volunteer fire departments, along with the Kilmarnock-Lancaster County Volunteer Rescue Squad, responded. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic control at Chesapeake and Rappahannock drives.
The fire originated in the sauna room with smoke and water damage throughout the gym, according to Sanders.
Firefighters had the fire under control within 30 minutes and were off scene by 9:30 p.m.
