First responders battle area fires

KILMARNOCK—Northern Neck first responders spent last weekend battling fires in cold and windy conditions.

A 911 call on Sunday, February 1, had multiple units responding to a structure fire off of Windmill Point Road near White Stone.

According to White Stone Fire Department assistant chief David Farmer, crews were dispatched around 1:50 p.m. to a house fire on Harpers Creek Drive. The three-story home had fire showing.

Residents, including the family dog, got out of the house safely, he said.

Mutual aid was provided by volunteer departments from Kilmarnock and Upper Lancaster along with Lancaster County Emergency Services and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Just after midnight on Monday, February 2, Cople District Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at Bevans Oyster Company in Kinsale. Firefighters found a commercial building heavily engulfed and….
