Approximately 150 students recently participated at the Northern Neck/Middle Peninsula Area Band event at Westmoreland High School.
These students were chosen out of about 350 students at auditions in February, reported Lancaster High School band director Kenny Flester.
Five students from Lancaster were chosen. In the junior high band were eighth graders Whitney Bean, trumpet; Namira Coleman, clarinet; and Estevao dos Santos, electric bass. In the senior high band were 10th graders Jonathan Gaines, tuba; and Kaitlyn Gilliss, flute.
