The Virginia High School League released the Class 1 All-State girls volleyball team on Friday, December 1, and the Northern Neck and Tidewater districts had two representatives on the first team and another three on the second.
Leading the local selections were Rappahannock High senior Virginia Trible and Middlesex junior Karlie Morris, both named to the first team.
Rappahannock juniors Maggie Wonderling and Sadie Packett and Middlesex junior Addison Heasley were all second-team selections.
Sophomore outside hitter Sophie Taylor of Giles was named the state player of the year. She finished the season with 637 kills, 52 aces, 61 blocks and 309 digs. Debra Spencer, who led Altavista to the state championship, was named the coach of the year.
