Healthy Harvest Food Bank will participate in Perfect Gift Night December 16 in Kilmarnock, an evening of extended shopping hours among several retailers.
From 5-7 p.m., the food bank truck will be parked in front of Rivah Antiques and Accessories, 43 South Main Street, for folks to drop off food items and/or make monetary donations.
“We are honored to be included in this community event,” said vice president and development director Cindy Balderson. “Inflation and the rising cost of food is affecting a family’s ability to put food on the table. We have seen a 50% increase in need throughout the region and a decrease in food donations.
“It is a critical time for the food bank as we work to meet the increase in demand with limited resources,” said Balderson.
Numerous businesses will be open until 7 p.m. for the community to shop local this holiday season. There is sure to be something for everyone….
