Former deputy to serve three years for felony solicitation

HANOVER—Motley Allen Haynie of Heathsville on December 11 pleaded guilty to two felony charges of solicitation of a minor in Hanover County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to 20 years on each charge with all but three years suspended. As part of the plea agreement, two additional charges, solicitation of child pornography and indecent liberties with a minor, were nolle prossed.

The charges stemmed from an incident in July 2024 when he had an online conversation with a Hanover County Sheriff’s Office investigator posing as a minor and attempted to arrange a meeting for sex. He currently is being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail in Hanover County.

Haynie, a former deputy with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, still faces charges in Lancaster….
