RICHMOND—Garnett George, 89, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2017, peacefully surrounded by his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Catherine; sons, Arnold (Bonnie) and Buddy (Karen); grandchildren, Holly, Chip (Sami) and Merry (Matt).
He was a World War II Army veteran stationed in Japan. His love of water came from growing up in White Stone as a waterman and led him to become a dockmaster at Windmill Point. Garnett moved to Richmond and was the founder and owner of HESCO Hydraulic Service Co. for 50 years.
A funeral service was held at noon, Wednesday, February 15, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, Richmond. The family received friends an hour prior to the service. Interment followed in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
