REEDVILLE—George Robert Hollows Jr., aka Bob, George Bob, Geo, GBs, Dad, 83, of Reedville passed away March 15, 2026.
George was many things to many people—steady, kind and always there when you needed him. He was married for 46 wonderful years to his best friend and love, Ellen G. Hollows, and together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty and family.
He was a proud father to Robin Hollows (Chloe) and Sandra Hollows (Owen, Madeline and Jack). He was a caring brother to Bruce Hollows (Carol Ann) and William Hollows (Anne); a loving brother‑in‑law to Annette Beauvais; and a favorite uncle to Brian, Brynn, Kristen, Allison and Sean. He was the beloved son of Margaret and George Hollows Sr. Nothing brought him more pride and joy than being with his family.
Born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he was a graduate of Muhlenberg College. A US Army Veteran who served with the First Air Cavalry in Vietnam, George’s life was one of service and was defined by hard work and integrity. Whether in uniform, as a business owner and computer consultant, or later as a dedicated volunteer, he believed in being useful, in lending a hand, in doing what needed to be done without asking for recognition.
George loved the simple, meaningful things in life. He was a devoted dog walker to his fur baby, Gabby, rain or shine. He believed deeply in helping others—his love for volunteering began with Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, where he first helped by cutting the grass, then became involved in the education program, and eventually served as a member of the board. George gave his time generously as a volunteer at the local food pantry, Gleamers and Blenders. He found community and purpose through the American Legion, and wherever he went, he made friends easily—earning him the nickname “The Mayor.” And, of course, there was that unmistakable smile—warm, genuine and ever-present.
He had a gift for making people feel seen, heard and welcome.
What will be remembered most isn’t a single achievement, but the way he lived: with kindness, with a soft heart, with honesty and integrity that never wavered. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a loyal brother and friend, and the kind of person you could always count on.
A message from the family: we are deeply grateful for the love, support and kindness shown to our family during this time. George believed strongly in showing up for others and giving back whenever possible.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor George’s memory by paying it forward—volunteer your time, help a neighbor, support a local food pantry, or perform an act of kindness in his name. This is how he lived his life, and it would mean the world to our family to see that spirit continue.

A Memorial service is planned at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 20, at the American Legion Post #117, 39 American Legion Way, Reedville. As per George’s wishes, casual attire is requested.
