Grace Episcopal awards $21,000 in scholarships

Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock recently awarded 11 scholarships totaling $21,000 to college and university students for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Of the 11 recipients, seven are freshmen and four are returning students. All are Lancaster High School graduates, reported committee member Poppy Cockrell.

The scholarships are awarded on the merits of scholastic achievement and need. All recipients will attend Virginia universities or colleges pursuing undergraduate degrees.

The recipients and their respective schools of higher education are Alyssa Booth, James Madison University; Destiny Carter, Old Dominion University; Lucy Gilbert, University of Virginia; Jamie Howard, Virginia Commonwealth University; and Aline Johnson, University of Virginia.

Also, Zoe Nonnemacker, Christopher Newport University; William Parker, Virginia Tech; Dylan Rose, Virginia Tech; Natlie Smith, Longwood University; Emilie Webster, Christopher Newport University; and Emily Whay, Radford University.
