Philip Harrison, a former wrestling standout at Northumberland High School, is excelling in a different sport at the college level.
Harrison, of Kilmarnock, and his teammates at the University of Mary Washington recently won the USA Rugby Fall national championship in the 1AA Division.
“It was incredible,” said Harrison of his team’s 37-13 win over St. Joseph’s University in the title game.”I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that we did so well this season and we actually won the championship.”
