Heathsville Farmers Market will host living history demonstration Sept. 21

The Heathsville Farmers Market will be held Sept. 21 at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville. The theme will be living history. Groups representing the American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War, Black history and local tribes have been invited to participate.

“Make It a Heathsville Saturday” will return September 21. The entire community will come together to offer a variety of fun shopping and things to do in conjunction with the Heathsville Farmers Market.

As part of the market theme, members of historical groups will set up a living history encampment outside Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern (RHHT). A display of historical flags will also be on view.

See folks in period attire and learn about local history. Groups representing the American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War, Black history and local tribes have been invited. Inside the Tavern Meeting Building, the schoolmaster will offer 18th century school for children and adults.

There also will be a historical rededication of Capt. Foushee’s grave site in front of the Tavern. This historical procession will begin at 11 a.m. and include an 1812 color guard, bagpipers and….
