Helen M. Birkel donates land for watermen’s park in Reedville

REEDVILLE—The Greater Reedville Association, doing business as Reedville Fishermen’s Museum (RFM), recently was given a 2.3-acre parcel on Main Street near Festival Halle and School House Square Apartments in Reedville.

Helen M. Birkel, generously donated the parcel to be used as a watermen’s heritage park, reported RFM executive director Shauna McCranie.

The park will include exhibits which will carry on the RFM mission to protect and share the maritime history of Reedville and the Lower Chesapeake Bay through educational programs, exhibits and community activities, while enhancing….
