WHITE STONE—Helen Marie Haynie, 78, of White Stone was called to heaven on January 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
A devoted wife, beloved mother and proud grandmother, Helen Marie loved spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Marie Dawson; father, William Tilton Johnson; father, G.C. Dawson; and sister, Carolyn Sanders.
Helen Marie leaves behind her husband, Bobby Haynie; daughters, Heather Maksym (Jimmy), Courtney Kellner (Brian); and four grandchildren, Reid, Claire, Colin and Caroline; as well as her brother, Danny Sanders (Nancy); sister, Geneva Dawson; sister-in-law, Clara Lee Thomas (Sonny); and a host of nieces and nephews.
In her professional life, she worked at G.C. Dawson Real Estate and later at Adventure Travel, where she loved to talk to clients about their upcoming trips.
Outside of work, Helen Marie loved to spoil her grandchildren by baking cookies, having tea parties and teaching them about backyard birds. She found her greatest peace in the garden. Whether tending to blooming perennials or coaxing vegetables to life, she nurtured her plants with the same care and patience she gave her loved ones.
A gathering for close friends and family will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, January 9, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to White Stone Baptist Church, or the family invites those who wish to honor her memory by planting something beautiful in their own gardens.
