IRVINGTON—Helen N. “Pat” McKerns of Irvington died on July 28, 2024, after a brief illness.
She was born in Richmond on April 20, 1937 to Marion H. Nott and Mary Catherine Amrhein Nott. While growing up in Richmond, she graduated from St. Gertrude High School in 1955, and thereafter attended Marymount College in Arlington.
Pat married Charles J. McKerns on February 13, 1960, in Richmond and settled in Northern Virginia.
She is survived by her children, Charles J. McKerns Jr. of Heathsville, Michael H. McKerns of Odessa, Texas, and Patricia Barrett McKerns of Richmond; her granddaughter, Jessica S. McKerns of Harrisonburg; her sister, Mary Ann Gardner of Richmond; and numerous relatives from the Nott and Amrhein families.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 13, at Roseland Cemetery in Reedville. Well wishers may remember Mrs. McKerns by making a contribution to a charity of their choice in her memory.
