LIVELY—Henry “John” Meyer Jr., loving husband, father and grandfather, lost his battle with cancer on January 7, 2018. He was born in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., on July 3, 1944.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Audrey Meyer, and his sister, Joanne Drudik.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Nee McIntyre; his sons, Henry John (Corrie) Meyer III and Robert James Meyer; his most cherished grandchildren, Sage and Trevor; two nephews, two nieces, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, all of whom he dearly loved.
John graduated from Pace College in Pleasantville, N.Y., in 1968 and taught school in NYC for 20 years. He and Joan resided in Lively for 25 years and he continued teaching in Virginia, also working as an auto technician.
Sailing his Sunfish meant the world to him and there was nothing he enjoyed doing more. He was a member of The International Sunfish Class Association for 50 years.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, at Woody Funeral Home-Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 11, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 909 Rennie Avenue, Richmond, VA 23227.
