Historic Christ Church & Museum programs to explore religious experiences in early Virginia

When English colonists landed at Jamestown in May 1607 they brought with them the Church of England, which would serve as Virginia’s established church until the American Revolution. But colonial Virginia was home to a religious diversity that included Powhatan Indians, Africans, and Presbyterian, Baptist and other dissenters who challenged the authority of the Church of England.

This fascinating religious history will be the theme of educational programs this year at Historic Christ Church & Museum (HCC&M). Highlights include a Sunday Speaker Series, a dramatic living history presentation, musical performances and bus trips, reported curator and education director Robert Teagle.
