Historic Irvington house gets a lift

An historic Irvington house on Cedardale Lane was lifted on Monday in order for crews to strengthen the house’s foundation.

IRVINGTON—This past September during a real estate boom in the Northern Neck, Malcome Sargent and his wife, Sara, of Henrico purchased an Irvington home believed to have been owned by a steamboat captain in the 1800s.

The Sargents had been visiting homes in the area by water when they noticed the historic house overlooking Carter Creek.

“We were looking for a house that didn’t need too much work,” said Malcome Sargent.
