Historical society plans December activities

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society (LVHS), 8346 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster, recently announced several public programs and exhibits for December.

On December 7, the LVHS museum, gift shop and library will offer special Saturday open house hours, reported executive director Karen Hart.

Visitors can tour the exhibit, “Digging Into Archaeology: Uncovering Pieces of Lancaster’s Past” and visit the historic 1797 Clerk of Court Office and 1820s Old Jail.

The exhibit focuses on the 1700s and early 1800 and features artifacts and research from archaeological investigations at the William Ball family homesite Millenbeck and the Thomas Carter family property near Merry Point, said Hart.
