LANCASTER—The three-day involuntary manslaughter trial for John Randolph “Rand” Hooper of Richmond, originally set to begin February 14 in Lancaster County Circuit Court, has been delayed until June.
According to Lancaster County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jan Smith, Hooper has retained an additional lawyer who could not accommodate the February court date and asked to have the trial rescheduled.
Hooper was indicted in July 2018 on an involuntary manslaughter charge while operating a boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs and additionally on a felony of failing to render aid. The charges stem from a fatal boating accident.
