John Randolph “Rand” Hooper, 32, of Richmond will be tried in Lancaster County Circuit Court in February 2019 on involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from a fatal boating accident in August 2017.
Judge R. Michael McKenney set the three-day jury trial for February 13, 14 and 15.
Hooper was indicted in July by a Lancaster grand jury on an involuntary manslaughter charge while allegedly operating a boat under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Additionally, he was indicted on a felony of failure to render aid.
The boating accident resulted in the death of 31-year old Graham McCormick, who was visiting Hooper at his parents’ home in Irvington. McCormick’s body was found by a boater on Carter Creek on August 11, 2017.
