Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta attracts 82 competitors

The 25th—Silver Anniversary—Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta (HTSR) was held October 3 on the Rappahannock River off Carter Creek.

The regatta, one of the largest on the Southern Chesapeake Bay and the largest of the Hospice regattas, was held under blue skies, scattering clouds and variable winds. The one-day, pursuit-style race attracted 82 of the area’s finest sailors—with one each from Greenwich, Conn., and Toronto, Canada—in their diverse and often handsome boats, making it exciting for many, as well as a beautiful panorama of boats and sails across the expanse of the Rappahannock River above the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge, reported news director Tom Wicks.
