LANCASTER—Over the coming weeks, tranquility could return to the rolling farmland of Iberis Road as the problem pigs there move on to an animal sanctuary.
Lancaster County Circuit Court Judge R. Michael McKenney on December 4 granted a plea deal in which Janice Baylor pleaded no contest to one count of creating a public nuisance involving the pigs on her Iberis Road property and failing to contain them properly.
Among the conditions of her no contest plea, Baylor agreed to relocate the estimated 100 pigs and two horses by February 2. She also agreed to relinquish ownership of any pigs and horses on the property and be responsible for any costs of removal after that date. Those costs would be in addition to a $25,000 fine, which was suspended pending her compliance.
