Interracial Conversations of the Northern Neck will meet from 5-7 p.m. December 12 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 6749 Jessie duPont Highway, Wicomico Church.
The presenter will be PJ Haynie. He will speak about the struggle Black people often encounter in retaining ownership of their land and the resulting erosion of the Black agricultural legacy, reported steering committee member Judy Thomson. Haynie also will talk about his role in, and show clips from, the award-winning film, “Gaining Ground: The Fight for Black Land.”
Haynie is a fifth-generation farmer from the Haynie family of farmers in Northumberland County. Haynie now also farms in the Mississippi Delta area of Arkansas. He will speak via Zoom from his farm in Arkansas.
