
Chesapeake Academy middle school students recently participated in an annual retreat called Inward Bound to get to know themselves and their peers better and to bond as advisory groups, grade levels and community.

The annual retreat is all about creating a nurturing, connected learning environment, reported interim head of school Catherine L. Emery. At Inward Bound, students participate in group problem-solving activities, games, contests and reflections with a variety of partners. Activities center on the annual character theme, “curiosity,” and focus on building character and relationships while connecting the idea of open-ended thinking to advisory topics of transition, friendship, self-discovery and leadership.
