Irvington council to clarify business license requirements

IRVINGTON—To resolve issues regarding the town’s business licenses, the Irvington Town Council on March 9 suspended enforcement of the ordinance until a committee can draft related amendments.

During the council meeting, Michael Schmid on behalf of the Irvington Business Association said the ordinance as written is confusing and that it is difficult to understand who specifically needs a license. He used the example of operating a remote business elsewhere while residing in Irvington as a challenge to know if a license is required.

He asked the town to suspend the license until there are clearer guidelines as to who needs to apply for business licenses.
