Irvington to have contests for mayor and town council; Mehta and Cao make the cut

LANCASTER—Local ballots for the November 5 elections are shaping up. Barring the proliferation of write-in candidates, races are not. Irvington will be the only town with contested seats.

According to Lancaster County voter registrar Susan P. Jett, four candidates filed by the June 18 deadline for three full-term seats on Irvington Town Council. They are Frances “Fran” Westbrook, Robin W. Camillo, Mary Cary “Cay” Bradley and Frederick F. Johnson. Two candidates are seeking election to mayor, Julie W. Harris and Samantha C. Van Saun. Also, Bonita “Bonnie” Schaschek filed in the special election for a two-year term on council.

In Kilmarnock, three candidates filed for three seats on council, Mae P. Umphlett, Mike S. Bedell and Alice Cooper.

In White Stone, four candidates filed for four seats on council, Charles M. Brocklebank, Tad E. Pittman, Kathryn Roop and AnnGardner Eubank.

Following the June 18 Dual Primary Elections, the Virginia Department of Elections unofficial results indicated….
